Tariq Rauf is a former head of Verification and Security Policy, reporting to the director general of the IAEA. A Canadian, he was the principal adviser to Director General ElBaradei on nuclear arms control and disarmament, working on nuclear verification files related to North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Libya and Syria, among others, and on IAEA Vision 2020. He was also the director of SIPRI's Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-proliferation Program.
